India suffered their second successive defeat in the Olympics men's hockey tournament, losing 1-3 to New Zealand on Wednesday.
All the goals came in the first half.
After taking the lead in the second minute through a penalty-corner conversion by Sandeep Singh, the Indians, who lost to the Netherland 2-3 in their opening match, were outplayed and lucky not to lose by a bigger margin.
Andy Hayward restored parity for New Zealand from a penalty-corner in the 13th minute.
Burrows Phillip made it 2-1 for the Kiwis in the 28th minute, before Wilson Nicholas increased the lead to 3-1 in the 30th minute. The last goal was the result of poor defending by the Indians who were rattled by a breakaway run down the right.
India pressed hard late in the match but failed to break through the tight Kiwi defence.
