Gagan Narang wins India's first medal - London Olympics

The games are about to begin. Specifically, for those of you living under a rock, newly awoken from a four-year coma, in the middle of a Twi-hard PR nightmare or otherwise oblivious to the world around you, the London 2012 Games . But before the starting pistols sound for the Olympics proper, we have to endure actually, no haters here, we are privileged to be able to experience the three-hour exercise in awe, jaw-dropping spectacle and cultural traditions that have become the Olympics opening ceremonies While their attendance is being kept secret for security purposes, the Queen, Prince William , new wife Kate Middleton and Prince Harry are expected to be on hand when the ceremony kicks off at 9 p.m. London time. Whether they’ll be there for the whole show is anyone’s guess, but if they do stay to the end, they’ll get to see Sir Paul McCartney close the event with a song.
